I sit. I watch and listen. The sky opens like a flower blooming into wonder. The sun rising just above the horizon. I can't see it's round ball of brightness yet, but it is coming. I feel it. The air is fresh, cool, carries the scent of dew on grass. Yet I know it will warm. Tap tap. I listen. Tap tap. The woodpecker busy, reminding me not to be just yet. A cardinal calls. Leaves whisper. My breath slows. I sit. Why is it so hard to just be still? Yet it is. So much to do. So much to think about. The mind pulls and tugs like a restless child. My body needs this. My mind thanks me. I touch a calmness I didn't know was there, quiet as morning mist, steady as stone. The sun is up— bright orb in blue sky. I greet it with clarity, peace, love and care. Because I sit. I watch and listen.
"I touch a calmness I didn't know was there, quiet as morning mist, steady as stone." brought me home. Stillness by osmosis is a thing I just found out about today.
Beautiful, Laurie! So true that just sitting is so hard for us these days. What a gift to be able to sit and BE and listen and watch as the day begins in PEACE. How fortunate, when others will be waiting for the chance to do the same.

Oh Jackie. You are so right - I do feel fortunate … and grateful I have the ability and time to sit and reflect in peace.
Lovely Laurie. With so much going on in the world as I woke up this morning, I needed your moments of Zen. Thank you.
